Doing your training

The essential training in Northumberland is delivered as follows. Other training (for example, activities, safeguarding, presenting) – contact your Group Scout Leader or DC for more information.

Getting started training

Essential information (Module 1) is completed for most Scouting roles and we encourage anyone involved to go through it. This is an on-line session lasting about an hour.

Tools for the Job (Module 3 for leaders and 4 for managers) gives basic information for new leaders, managers and assistants to help them get started in their roles . This is an on-line course

Leaders, managers and assistants need to validate these training in Groups/Districts.

For some roles, this is the only essential training required.

Planning your training

The County hold Training Induction sessions on a regular basis to introduce how training works and to set out a training plan that meets your needs –training Module 2 is setting the plan.

Leader Training

Modules 5 6 and 7 are completed by e-learning or DVD

First Aid (module 10) is organised on a Group/District or individual basis.

Module 11 – there is no training course – the content is covered as part of other modules (a bonus !)

The other 10 modules are offered over 4 separate group training days each offered twice a year. Some of these modules can also be completed by workbooks if time is limited- ask for details.

Manager Training

Manager training is delivered slightly differently, but full details are given at Training Induction
